Tire Pressure Gauge

Tire Pressure Gauge

Did you know that UNDER inflated tires are more prone to blowing than OVER-inflated ones?

This is because when the air pressure in a tire is low, more of the tire comes in contact with the road. This generates heat and the more heat, the higher that likelihood of a tire blowout or even an explosion. This is bad enough on any car, but when it happens on your 45,000 lbs motorhome, the effect can be disastrous!

There are numerous systems available that let you monitor tire pressure while you drive. They have little sensors on each of the tire valves and send data into a unit on your dashboard. While excellent, they are quite pricy. If you do not (yet) want to invest in a system like that, the ability to measure your tire pressure is essential.

There is a dilemma however, as most of the pressure gauges you purchase at auto parts stores, do not measure higher than around 75 PSI and most RVs and motorhomes will have tires with higher pressure. For example, our two front tires require 100 PSI, the rear tires 90 PSI. Those commonly available gauges will simply not do the trick.

Hunting around, I found this little guy. Will accurately measure up to 150 PSI AND it gives me a digital readout which is far more precise than those gauges where a bar is pushed up by the tire pressure. Remove the gauge and that bar retracts and you cannot see the reading.

This unit is perfect. Push it onto the valve, hold for a second, then remove to see the reading. Easy!
